Summary
We are responsible for assuring the health and safety of all employees. In keeping with this objective, Zendesk does not permit bringing household pets to the office. Zendesk may at times make exceptions to this policy, for example, on an annual “Bring Your Dog to Work Day,” if sponsored by a local office with prior approval from People & Places. Zendesk will also make accommodations according to law.

What about service or emotional support animals?
In accordance with applicable law, an employee who requires the help of a service animal or benefits from the assistance of an emotional support animal may be able to bring such animals into the office, provided it doesn’t create a danger to others or impose undue hardship upon Zendesk.
Prior to bringing in your animal, you’ll need to apply for and get approval for a workplace accommodation and supply the applicable medical documentation from your physician. Please contact hr@acme.com who will assist and answer any questions.
Zendesk’s “Petiquette”
At all times, both people and animals in the office will be expected to follow Zendesk’s “petiquette” -
- Bring the necessities for your animal - water and food dishes, toys, treats, etc.
- Take your animal outside as needed;
- By bringing in your animal, you accept all liability and responsibility for its actions;
- Your animal must be leashed and in your continuous full control at all times; Note that animals are not allowed in main event spaces; or allowed on office furniture, chairs, or couches.
- You are expected to clean up, completely and immediately, after your animal.
In addition, the following animals may not be brought to the workplace:
- Animals that are sick; who have fleas, parasites, or communicable diseases; or animals that have not been properly vaccinated;
- Animals that bark or behave aggressively; and/or
- Animals that behave in a way inconsistent with a safe, clean, and productive working environment.
Zendesk may, at its discretion, require the animal owner to maintain a liability insurance policy covering damage or injuries caused by animals while at the office. The company may specify minimum coverage amounts under such a policy and may require the owner to pay for such coverage.
Zendesk shall not be liable for loss of, or injury to, any animals brought to the office.
